Call for special sessions, workshops, discussions, trainings, & meetings
We’re excited to announce opportunities for you to lead conversations, share expertise, and build collaborations at the upcoming Symposium. Whether you want to organise a special session, host a workshop or training, or bring people together for a meeting, this is your chance to make an impact.
Submission Deadline: 23 January 2026
Submissions will be accepted until the end of 23 January 2026 in all time zones.
Our programme is designed to foster innovation, dialogue, and practical solutions across key themes:
- Ocean-based solutions
- Beyond tipping points – translating science to action
- Working across knowledge systems in a high-CO₂ world
- Technological advances in marine climate change research
- Multiple stressors' effects on marine organisms
- Global-driven changes in biodiversity and ecosystem resilience
- The modulating role of time - from short-term variability to evolution

Call for special sessions
Help shape the conversation at the Symposium by leading a special session that inspires dialogue and drives impact. We welcome topics that challenge thinking, advance knowledge, and spark collaboration.
What will be requested:
- A short summary of your topic and intended audience.
- Symposium themes it aligns with.
- Names and contact details for at least four committed presenters along with tentative presenation titles and descriptions.

Workshops, Discussions & Training Sessions
Each day of the Symposium includes open periods for 1–3 hour sessions dedicated to workshops, community discussions, and training. If you, your organisation, or company would like to host one of these sessions, this is your opportunity to share expertise and foster collaboration.
What to include in your submission:
- A brief summary of the offering
- Your target audience
- Proposed session length
Important:

Where possible, we ask organisations to contribute to room costs for their session, but we understand this may not be feasible for all.
Call for meetings at the Symposium
If your organisation, working group, or research collaboration would like to hold a short meeting during the Symposium, we can offer a 24-person meeting room for 1–4 hour sessions. While applications close 23 January 2026, late requests may be accepted if space allows.

Events outside of the Symposium
Planning an all-day training or meeting before or after the Symposium? Space may be available at Victoria University of Wellington or Greta Point Campus. Charges apply and will be confirmed once requirements are reviewed.
